"One of the Best Ramen Restaurants in America" - Thrillist
Menya Jiro’s founders opened a ramen shop in their native Kagoshima, Japan, in 2007, and it proved to be so successful that they brought it to New York City as a popup. It was so acclaimed (winning both the 2016 and ‘17 New York Street Ramen Contests) that it’s since spawned three brick-and-mortar New York City ramen restaurants and several more in Japan, continuing to earn heaps of praise and hordes of customers.
Menya Jiro’s signature ramen combines pork tonkotsu and chicken broths, with soy sauce and other seasonings imported directly from Kagoshima. This is ramen as it should be: perfectly balanced, umami-packed, brimming with springy handmade noodles and topped with slices of slow-roasted chashu pork.
Menya Jiro Ramen has been lauded by Metro, Gothamist, and Crain's New York. It has also been featured on national television in Japan and has won numerous competitions such as the Yamanashi Shimbun Grand Prix.
